News on HS2 in Solihull

Notice of lane and road closures in the Interchange area.

We previously notified you about temporary daytime lane closures on Northway and the B4438, which will conclude soon. You can read our previous post here . Following the completion of this phase of utilities works, we will continue these diversions on and around Northway Island. Later in the year, this will enable us to improve and expand sections of the existing road network in the area, and construct new routes on HS2 land, which will connect to four new highway bridges. These road improvements will ensure that when the future station is operational, the local road network is fit for purpose.

To carry out our utilities work safely, we’ll install lane closures from Monday 6 April to Friday 10 April, and again from Tuesday 14 April for approximately 3 weeks, on Northway Island and the B4438 and A452. Our working hours will be 6am to 8pm. We will work Monday to Friday, however from Tuesday 14 April, we may extend our works into the weekend.

During this time, we’ll also temporarily close the entrance and exit for Birmingham Business Park, off Northway Island, from Friday 10 April to Tuesday 14 April. During this closure, you will be able to access the Park via its entrance and exit off the B4438, along Progress Way. A signed diversion route will be in place for road users.

Notice of ongoing road and lane closures on the A446 and A452

In April, we will also be carrying out works on the A446 and A452. We previously notified you about overnight road and lane closures on the A452 northbound and A446 southbound and that work concluded on Monday 20 January. You can read our previous post here . Following the completion of our access roads off the A452 and A446, and speed camera installation, we now need to carry out a series of overnight surveys in this area.

To carry out this work safely, we’ll need to install temporary overnight road and lane closures on the following roads:

Signed diversion routes will be in place for road closures along the A452 northbound and southbound. Our working hours will be 8pm to 6am, but our contractors may be on site up to an hour before and after those times to set up and close down the site.
