During 2020, we will build four new highways bridges in the area that surrounds the future HS2 Interchange Station. In the future, these bridges will connect the current road network to new routes we will create over the next two years.
After successfully installing the first of these bridges over the M42 , we need to carry out works such as putting in new street lighting alongside the motorway. To conduct these safely, we need to install temporary overnight lane closures.
On 29 July , we originally planned to undertake these temporary overnight lane closures from Monday 10 August, for approximately 4 weeks, on the M42 between junctions 6 and 7. Due to a delay in receiving the necessary consents and the unavailability of road space, we have rescheduled the temporary overnight lane closures from Monday 7 September, for approximately 2 weeks, on the M42 between junctions 6 and 7.
Our works start date and duration may change because our works are dependent on the relevant consents being granted, which may affect when we carry out our planned traffic measures.
In addition, we will not work every evening across the 2 weeks. This is because we are sharing road space with another contractor, Kier, to minimise the quantity of traffic measures on the M42 in the future. When we do work, varying lanes will be closed along the M42.
You will still be able to travel along the M42 in both directions.
