HS2 Notification: Works on and around Northway Island will be delivered during extended working hours from 21 September 2020

During 2020, we are improving and expanding sections of the existing road network in the area, and constructing new routes on HS2 land, which will connect to four new highway bridges. These road improvements will ensure that when the future HS2 Interchange Station is operational, the local road network is fit for purpose.

This is an ongoing programme of works, which commenced in March on Northway and the B4438 .

Earlier in the month , we had stated that we would be undertaking this programme during restricted daytime hours throughout September. As traffic movements in the area remain low, some of our traffic measures will now remain in place 24-hours. We expect that the impact of extended working hours on road users is likely to remain low, however if traffic movements increase substantially, restricted working hours will be reintroduced.

To carry out our continued works safely, single lane closures will remain in place on and around Northway Island. Our working hours will be 7am to 6pm, but some traffic measures will remain in place 24-hours. We will work Monday to Friday, however we may extend our works into the weekend if required. Most of our traffic measures will be located on Northway and remain in place 24-hours.

You will still be able to travel along all routes in both directions.

Check the works in your area page for more information and map .
