HS2 Works Notification: Demolition of the former Motorcycle Track Buildings & Telecoms Building, Middle Bickenhill, week commencing Monday 9 December 2019

As part of our enabling works, LM are required to demolish the former Motorcycle Track Buildings & Telecoms Building, at Middle Bickenhill, to clear the way for the future HS2 Interchange Station. In October , we contacted you predicting that these works would start on 28th October. However, due to the results of a number of pre-demolition surveys, these works were delayed.

It is expected that these works will start week commencing Monday 9 December, with site set up taking place the week before. The set up week will include the delivery of equipment and the installation of temporary welfare facilities for our team (these facilities will not include overnight accommodation). Our works site, and all its related facilities, will be secured and monitored by security throughout our works. We will conclude our works by 20 December 2019.

Our team will access the works site via the A446 through the Middle Bickenhill North Access Gate, and vehicle movements on site will be kept to an absolute minimum. These works require no traffic management and all works will be carried out on HS2 land.

Our working hours will be:

· Monday to Friday - 7.30am to 5.30pm

· Saturday - 7.30am to 1.00pm

· No working on Sundays or Public Holidays.

Our team may be on site up to an hour before and after those times but, no plant and/or machinery will be turned on during this period.

As part of our duty of care to our team, the environment and the neighbouring community, we will ensure that exposure to vibration, dust and noise is limited. The works we are undertaking will not exceed guidelines however, we will still employ a number of measures to monitor our activities. We use ‘real time’ static units to produce accurate dust, noise, and vibration reports. The units will be placed at strategic points around the site to ensure we remain in guidelines at all times.

We will also be responsible for clearing the completed site, and we will segregate all materials to achieve a minimum of 95% recycling of materials from our demolition works. Where we cannot recycle materials, we will remove or reclaim.

If you'd like to contact us about our works you can call our freephone helpdesk on 08081 434 434 or email hs2enquiries@hs2.org.uk .
