News on HS2 in Solihull

We previously notified you about overnight lane closures on the M42 to safely carry out surveys from May to June. You can read our previous post here . This is an ongoing programme of works on the M42, which commenced in January, in preparation for the installation of a highways bridge over the M42 later in the year.

To continue these preparation activities, we’ll need to install temporary overnight lane closures from Monday 22 June, for approximately 6 weeks, on the M42 between junctions 6 and 7. We will be working Monday to Friday from 10pm to 6am each evening.

We may not work every evening but, when we do, varying lanes will be closed along the M42. This is because our works are dependent on the results of previous surveys and the relevant consents being granted, which may affect where and when we carry out our planned traffic measures.

You will still be able to travel along the M42 in both directions.

This news alert is to let you know of work planned to take place on the A452 from 8 June. These works are:

1. Northbound lane closure on the A452, close to Middle Bickenhill Lane, during the day on Monday 8 June and Tuesday 9 June. And

2. Northbound on A452 Kenilworth Road, lane closure between the Aston Martin and Meriden Road roundabouts on 12 June

Both works include the clearance of vegetation. In order to carry out these works safely, traffic management will be introduced on the section of the road, where our contractor is working. The lane closures will take place during the day from 09:30 to 15:30 pm . Our contractor may be out on site one hour before and after these works, setting up or clearing down.

You may have seen us working near Hampton-in-Arden to prepare the route of the new railway. The work along Meriden Road includes vegetation, hedgerow and tree removal ahead of construction later this year.

To ensure a safe access to roadside vegetation and tree removal we will be operating temporary traffic lights along Meriden Road between Hampton-in-Arden and the A452. These signals will be operational on 8 and 9 June between 09:30 am and 15:30 pm.

There is a Public Right of Way (PRoW) near by. This is impacted by our work and will be management by our contractor. Management of public right of way (PRoW) M230A will be in place on 8 and 9 June between 08:00 am to 18:00 pm.

Access to properties and businesses will be maintained. Marshall's will escort pedestrians safely through the works as required.
