News on HS2 in Solihull

Early works to construct the new railway, is carried out by a joint venture between Laing O’Rourke and J. Murphy & Sons, known as LM.

Planned temporary single lane closures from 09:00 am – 15:30 pm

From Monday 10 February, LM will be working near the A452, A45 and M42, which surround the site of the future HS2 Interchange Station. The work includes vegetation and tree clearance. To conduct these safely, we need to install temporary lane closures. LM will install temporary single lane closures on the following roads on and around Northway Island. Traffic measures will be in place on the following roads:

LM will be working onsite from 9.30 am to 3.30 pm from Monday 10 February to Sunday 16 February subject to consent from the relevant authorities. Our contractors may be on site for up to an hour before and after those times.

Planned temporary overnight lane closures from 20:00 pm to 06:00 am, for 4 weeks

Also, from Monday 10 February, overnight from 20:00 pm to 06:00 am, LM will be improving and expanding sections of the existing road network on and around the Northway island and B4438. LM will be constructing new routes on HS2 land, which will connect to four new highway bridges. These road improvements will ensure that when the future station is operational, the road network is fit for purpose.

The work being carried out includes earthworks, surveys and diversion of existing utilities. To conduct this work safely we need to install temporary lane closures overnight from 8 pm to 6 am each evening from Monday 10 February to Tuesday 3 March .
