Temporary closure of Birmingham Business Park’s entrance and exit off Northway Island from 7pm on Friday 6 August through to 4am on Monday 9 August 2021

We are remodelling and improving sections of the existing road network in the area and creating new routes on HS2 land. These road improvements will ensure that when the future station is operational, the local road network is fit for purpose. Upon completion, a new T-junction will replace Northway Island. A new ‘longabout’ is already in operation outside the Holiday Inn Express NEC, on the way to the National Exhibition Centre (NEC).

To date, we have connected parts of the existing road network to some of the new routes we have created, and installed new pedestrian footpaths, kerb lines and central reservations in the area. We started the creation of the new T-junction in April 2021 . This programme will continue with some temporary changes to Birmingham Business Park’s entrance and exit arrangements off Northway Island in August.

To carry out this programme safely, we will install a temporary closure of Birmingham Business Park’s entrance and exit, along Solihull Parkway, off Northway Island from 7pm on Friday 6 August, through to 4am on Monday 9 August. Throughout the closure, access to the park will be maintained via Progress Way off the B4438. A signed diversion route will be in place for road users during the closure.

These traffic measures will be carried out in conjunction with a new direction of travel for road users around Northway Island, which commenced on Monday 19 July .
