News on HS2 in Solihull

Temporary lane closures along sections of the A452 northbound and A446 southbound near Northway Island from Wednesday 2 June to Friday 4 June 2021

Subject to obtaining the relevant consents, from Wednesday 2 June to Thursday 4 June, 9.30am to 3.30pm each day, temporary lane closures will be installed along sections of the A452 northbound and A446 southbound near Northway Island. We are carrying out these traffic measures to allow safe access to our work sites to prepare for future construction works, which includes roadside vegetation clearance .

Our works start date and duration may change because our works are dependent on the relevant consents being granted, which may affect when we carry out our planned traffic measures. We’ll inform you of any changes to these planned traffic measures before they take effect, if required, at: www.hs2insolihull.co.uk

These traffic measures will be carried out in conjunction with a new direction of travel for road users around Northway Island, which will commence on Monday 24 May.

Temporary overnight lane closures on the M42 from Monday 7 June to Friday 11 June 2021

When the future HS2 Interchange Station is operational, four new highways bridges will connect the current road network to new routes we are creating. The first of these new highways bridges was safely installed in August 2020 over the M42 . This year, we’ll carry out various activities to fully reinstate the motorway’s assets such as streetlighting.

To carry out this work safely, we’ll install temporary, overnight lane closures along sections of the M42, between junctions 6 and 7, from 10pm to 5am between Monday 7 June and Friday 11 June inclusive. This will include hard shoulder closures along this section of the M42 northbound and southbound.

Our contractors may be on site up to an hour before and after these times to set up and close down the site.
